My Background

I was not born and breed in an IT environment. I was an Engineer by education and experience before transitioning to consulting.

My first job out of college was chasing parts on the shop floor. I understand the importance of inventory control and making sure you have what you need to build your products.

I’ve designed tools used on machines that build products. I’ve worked in manufacturing planning with paper and we made entries into the mainframe at the end of every day.

I come from a day when production scheduling boards were on a wall, and we had paper cards for sequencing manufacturing orders.

Then I transferred into a product engineering role where I reviewed designs for customer contract compliance and manufacturability. I managed a team of designers and eventually transitioned to an internal consulting role on a business process re-engineering project.

That’s where I got my first taste of consulting and loved it.

A lot has changed with technology in the last 38 years. But what hasn’t changed are the struggles:

  • Where are my parts?
  • What can I produce today with what I have?
  • How long will it take to get what I need?
  • How can I build a production schedule with what’s coming in?
  • How can I improve forecast accuracy?
  • What does the supply chain look like?
